Silicon Knights Releases Too Human Soundtrack

Silicon Knights announced today that the Too Human soundtrack is now available in stores. The music CD features tracks from the game along with 16 other harmonic tracks. Below is the press release with the announcement:
Silicon Knights Releases "Too Human" Soundtrack

Hollywood Music Awards Nominated "Too Human" Soundtrack Available Now

St. Catharines, ON (November 25, 2008) – Silicon Knights, one of the world’s largest independent developers, has just announced that the “Too Human” soundtrack is now available for purchase. This haunting musical CD, which was just nominated for “Best Original Video Game Score” by the Hollywood Music Awards, features tracks from the game, such as “Relic”, “Path to Attrition”, “The World Tree” and “Gods and Chaos”, along with 16 other harmonic tracks. All the music was originally scored by Silicon Knights’ award-winning composer, Steve Henifin, and performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra and Choir Prague. This hour-long soundtrack is mixed in a continuous format with special extras and remixes to deliver a one-of-a-kind listening experience. Selling for $15.98, the “Too Human” soundtrack can be ordered at Amazon.com , Best Buy.com , iTunes and the CD label’s own site Sumthing Distribution.

The game “Too Human” is based on Norse mythology, retold as a technologically advanced lost civilization. Great care was taken to maintain the Old Norse setting, and this goes for the music as well. The soundtrack feature period instruments, such as the Hardanger, Lyre, Alpenhorn and Langeleik, and Old Norse vocals that are loosely based off of the Norse Eddur.

The music ranges by location and scenario. There are moments of long beds of orchestral music, followed by electronic/metal sounding tracks that put the listener into a different space altogether. There are also vast ambient tracks that are made of layers upon layers of sample-based sounds and evolving electronic sounding textures as well.

In “Too Human”, the Cybernetic god Baldur is faced with the task of defending mankind from the hordes of machines bent on destroying humanity. The game’s music helps to evolve the player through tales of discovery, bloodlust, vengeance, and glory. “Music is key to character establishment, keeping continuity throughout the game play, and in its relation to the story” said Steve Henifin, Director of Audio for Silicon Knights.” “Having the tracks evolve around each setting is something that draws you more into the experience and gives players a sense of progression.”

So while the music and audio is Norse in its presentation, it is not exclusively Norse in its sound. It branches out quite a bit, but still stays in the realm of an ancient lost world of technology. It also has its moments using a more aggressive contemporary sound. In places, the Silicon Knights audio team brought in layers of electronic elements, but in a more subtle way. The cyber elements are more elegant and organic in style. In some cases the song style was influenced by the style of the instrument itself, whether that be a Balaban, Bone flute, Frame Drum, Bagpipe or something else, making the phrasing and general feel of a song constructed around the characteristic of that one instrument. SAN FRANCISCO - November 19, 2008 - Ubisoft announced today that NARUTO(TM): The Broken Bond, available exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, has shipped to retailers and will be in stores in North America this week. The game, based on the world-renowned NARUTO animated series, is licensed from VIZ Media LLC (North America), TV Tokyo/Shueisha (Europe) and Mighty Delta (Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan).

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, NARUTO(TM): The Broken Bond takes place immediately after the events of Ubisoft's NARUTO(TM): Rise of a Ninja and continues the saga of Naruto, who is now a well-respected ninja. Naruto has evolved into a mature and strong hero. However, with his new status comes responsibility, and Naruto soon finds himself surrounded by conflict. Forced to relive bitter memories, Naruto's best friend Sasuke strikes out on a self-destructive quest for power. Now with the help of his friends, Naruto must confront Sasuke and save him before it's too late.

Ubisoft's NARUTO(TM) series of video games are the only NARUTO games that feature an online multiplayer mode that allows players to compete against each other in online tournaments. Players can now choose from 30 characters and play alongside friends to defeat other teams online via Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network.

First introduced in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan in 1999, NARUTO, created by Masashi Kishimoto, quickly became that country's most popular ninja manga (graphic novel) targeting tweens and teens and has sold more than 80 million copies to-date. Today, NARUTO is considered one of the most popular animated series in Japan's history and has achieved immense success not only as a manga and TV series, but also in the realm of licensed categories such as toys, trading card games and video games. NARUTO enjoys further widespread domestic success where it debuted as the best selling manga title in North America. The manga series (also published by VIZ Media) has now sold over three million copies to-date in the US and regularly appears on USA Today's Bestseller list and Bookscan's Graphic Novel Top 50. NARUTO is one of the most popular Japanese animated series in North America and is also distributed domestically by VIZ Media. The show is regularly ranked as the #1 program for boys aged 6-17 on Cartoon Network's Toonami block of programming.

NARUTO: The Broken Bond has an ESRB rating of "T" (Teen) and has an MSRP of $59.99 USD.

Below is the press release with the announcements:
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts launches in North America today with Rare developers inviting players to a special Xbox LIVE session on Nov. 23

Break out your magic wrench and start sketching those blueprints. More than 10 years after the launch of “Banjo-Kazooie,” Microsoft Game Studios and Rare Ltd. are proud to renew the beloved franchise with “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.” Landing at North American retailers today, this Xbox 360 exclusive is rated “E 10+” (for Everyone 10 and older) and retails for $39.99. Starring a honey bear, Banjo, and his wise-cracking breegull companion, Kazooie, “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” encourages players to use their imaginations as they embark on an adventure to claim ownership of Spiral Mountain.

In their third adventure, Banjo and Kazooie face off against their evil witch rival Gruntilda, with nothing less than the deed to Spiral Mountain on the line. The mysterious Lord of Games (or L.O.G.), creator of all video games, has decided to step in to settle the feud between them once and for all. The winner of L.O.G’s challenges will be deemed the sole possessor of Spiral Mountain and it’s up to players to ensure Banjo and Kazooie’s success.

Players navigate six different worlds created by L.O.G., each with their own unique set of challenges. Players create their own abilities by building vehicles for Banjo to pilot over land, sea and air. Although L.O.G’s challenges have one end goal, each player can develop their own unique solution by either building a vehicle from a myriad of parts they’ve collected, or by expanding on a pre-made vehicle.

For those who enjoy a little competition, “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” comes equipped with a gripping multiplayer mode for the first time in the franchises’ history. Using Xbox LIVE, up to eight players can engage in various multiplayer competitions including Sumo, Soccer and Queen of the Knoll, where they can test out and show off their creations and driving skills. A dozen artists and designers will join in the multiplayer competitions from 3-5 p.m. EST on Xbox LIVE, including Gregg Mayles, Rare’s head of design, and Salvatore Fileccia, Rare’s lead software engineer. All members of the “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” development team will be distinguishable by their unique Banjo characters, which will be sporting a stylish pair of sunglasses, and those who get the chance to battle against Rare team members will unlock a special Achievement.
