New L.A. Noire Video "A Slip of the Tongue"

Hot off the press is Rockstar's latest trailer for L.A. Noire, featuring the Wal-Mart preorder bonus mission "A Slip of the Tongue."

This is a case from the Traffic Desk in which Cole Phelps and crew try to get to the bottom of a car theft ring. The video features some of the more action-oriented driving scenes, in addition to some shootouts. There's lots of eye candy for gamers packed into these 31 seconds.

If this is the kind of stuff we can expect from the Traffic Desk missions, consider me even more pumped. I was worried somewhat of the interest that could be garnered from being a Traffic cop. The idea of pulling people over and giving them speeding tickets did not sound very appealing to me. Glad to see that will not be the case! But enough of my words - if you're still reading these - watch the video below!

Any new thoughts based on the trailer? Share them with us in the comments section below! We love to hear your opinions.

Microsoft Promises Big Things For Kinect In 2011

Microsoft executives have been talking up the Kinect with several different magazines over the last few weeks. The General Manager for Microsoft's United Kingdom division recently sat down and spoke Kinect with trade magazine MCV.

Microsoft seems happy with the awards that Kinect has one in the press and more recently at the BAFTA awards. The company feels that titles like Kinect Sports really broaden the console's audience.

"I think people are excited about Kinect, that's what we're focusing on and that's what you're going to see us really deliver on as we go through this calendar year, both in terms of what we're doing with that platform and the different types of gaming experiences that we're bringing to market." - UK GM Neil Thompson

What kind of titles would you like to see on Kinect in the next 12 months? There are rumblings about survival horror and M rated titles coming to the device before the end of the year. Does your Kinect get much use?

Personally I would love to see more mature titles using the Kinect. It is an excellent device that brings a lot of potential to the platform. Look to teamxbox for all of the latest Kinect news as it happens.

Rareware May Be Working On Kinect Sports 2

Rumors have been floating around the internet for some time that Rareware is working on a sequel to 2010’s Kinect Sports. The game has been rumored to be in development since reports first surfaced in early February. Considering how prominent the first game was used in advertisements for the Kinect a sequel shouldn’t be too shocking.

The first Kinect Sports was released alongside the sensor on November 4th 2010. It featured six different sports in both multiplayer and single player configurations. Let’s hope that Rare adds a few more sports to the roster and fixes some of the issues that plagued sports like Volleyball before they ship the sequel. Kinect Sports currently holds an average of rating of 7.0/10 amongst the gaming press.

The second part of the rumor is that Rare’s existence depends on the reception and sales of Kinect Sports 2. They were recently restructured and reportedly Perfect Dark 2 and Kameo 2 were both cancelled during this process. Rare has been instrumental to Microsoft’s Avatar push. It would be a shame to see them go after successful titles like Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and Kameo.

What is your take on a possible Kinect Sports 2? Let us know in the comments.

Duke Nukem Forever Multiplayer Details

Gearbox Software promised details about Duke Nukem Forever's multiplayer mode would arrive shortly after their PAX East event. It seems that these details may have leaked out a little early as they hit the internet this morning. Not only do we have details on the available weapons, maps and modes but we've also got a screenshot from the mutliplayer mode as well.

Duke Nukem Forever's multiplayer forgoes the now standard 8 Vs 8 play for a more conservative 4 Vs 4 setup across all modes. According to the details that appeared this morning players on either side will be divided between a red and blue team with the color of their Duke's shirt representing their respective side.

5 different game modes were revealed in the leaked details. The standard free-for-all Dukematch (deathmatch), Team Dukematch, Hail to the King (king of the hill) and an odd take on Capture the Flag called "Capture the Babes". In Capture the Babe each time must capture the opposing teams Babe and bring her back to their side of the map to score a point. If the leak is correct then at some points when you capture the babe she will not co-operate. In order to bring her to the opposing side you must "give her a gentle smack to calm her down". Misogynistic? Yes. Hilariously over the top? I think so!

Duke Nukem Forever Multiplayer Details

Duke is primed and ready for action.

Several weapons from Duke Nukem's past return in Duke Nukem Forever. Players can expect to wield Duke's classic golden pistol, shot each other with the shotgun, shrink down their foes with the Shrink Ray and obliterate the opposition with the RPG Launcher. It was also confirmed that trip-mines can be attached to enemies in both the single player and multiplayer modes.

Weapons aren't the only goodies that players will find scattered around the 10 available maps. Several power-ups are available to help Duke accomplish his goal of alien ass kicking. The series staple - Steroids- are back and provide Duke with a one hit kill he can use on any opponent. It also raises his running speed but disables Duke's ability to wield weapons while the power-up is active. The last power-up that the leak mentions is the Holo-Duke. This holographic clone of Duke would sit beside him and mimic his movements. In an added twist the new Holo-Duke will also cloak the player, giving them an added advantage in combat.

Just because Duke Nukem Forever doesn't live up to modern standards in terms of the number of players per match doesn't mean Tryptic and Gearbox Software haven't implemented other advancements from the last generation of online games. Duke uses an experience system similar to those found in the Call of Duty franchises. Players will earn experience at the end of each match as well as bonus experience for "achievements" - such as killing yourself with a pipe bomb or going on a killing spree.

There is certainly a lot of information to digest and it sounds like the folks at Gearbox have an excellent experience waiting for us. Will you play Duke Nukem Forever when it releases on May 3rd? I will be the first in line at midnight. Look for our full review a few days after the May 3rd release date.

Prey 2 Main Character & Story Info

It seems that details about Prey 2 are coming out at a snail’s pace. Details about the gameplay, main characters and plot are being released slowly through magazine scans, inside sources and rumor rather than official channels like the games publisher Bethesda. The latest round of details comes from an “inside source” who discussed the game with Kotaku earlier today.

The mysterious military-like character we saw on the Game Informer cover is in fact a United States Air Martial aboard a plane that was downed during the alien ship’s appearance in the first game. The two games will follow the same events taking place simultaneously but from different perspective. Apparently the simultaneous plot will diverge after the game’s opening chapter and will take players to an alien planet.

The gameplay of Prey 2 takes place in an open world rather than the straightforward corridors that populated the first title. Players will be able to make use of the walls/debris and obstacles as methods of cover similar to the original Prey. Outside of the cover mechanic we also know that the game will make use of a “scan mechanic” that enables the Air Martial to gain information about his surroundings and enemy NPCs

With all of this information coming out a debut trailer shouldn’t be too far behind. As soon as we have more information about Prey 2 we will bring it to you.

Trine 2 "Aluring Adventures" Trailer

Atlus released a brand new trailer for the upcoming platformer Trine 2. The trailer shows off the vibrant environments that players will encounter including dimly lit caves, bright lush forest areas and ancient cityscapes.

The game is a physics based platformer where players can switch between three different forms on the fly. These forms include a brave sword wielding knight, a powerful spell casting wizard able to conjure new items to help the player reach their goal and finally a stealthy rogue.

Atlus intends to release Trine 2 this Summer according to their latest press release. The game was originally revealed at E3 2010 with a targeted release date of spring 2011. We’ll have to put up with a little bit of a delay but it is nice to see the game appear on the Xbox Live Arcade. The previous entry in the series was only released on the Playstation Network and on Steam for Windows PC.

Developer Frozenbyte released a statement about the delay when speaking to The Escapist: There's still a lot of work to be done and we don't want people to have false expectations, so we wanted to communicate the new release date now. Everything's going great though, Trine 2 is our smoothest project ever despite this delay."

Hitman 5 Comes Out of Hiding at E3

The latest entry in the Hitman series has been the subject of rumor for the last couple years. Reports in 2009 indicated that title would not switch developers when a motion capture artist revealed he was working on the title. Since then fans of the series have developed their own viral videos and other media to show support for the unannounced title.

Recently the company ran an alternate reality game using barcodes and other clues. At the end of the series of clues players found a series of emails from the game's community manager, a single teaser image and the date of June 7th 2011. That also just happens to be the first day of E3. Keep your fingers crossed for a huge reveal.

Hitman 5 Comes Out of Hiding at E3

Agent 47 is getting ready for his moment in the spotlight.

There isn't much to talk about in regards to the teaser image. It shows Agent 47 screwing a silencer on to a 9mm pistol. His iconic suit, tie and gloves are all accounted for. The screenshot does use an impressive amount of depth of field - focusing on the glove so that the background go goes blurry. It is possible that this still is a frame from a CGI trailer rather than in game footage.

More details should be forthcoming as E3 draws near. Keep your eyes peeled on TeamXbox.com for the latest Hitman 5 news.

Kinect Enters the Guinness Book of World Records

The Guiness Book of World Records has established the Kinect Sensor as the fastest selling gadget of all time. Stories of the Kinect flying off the shelf weren’t kidding with the sensor selling over 8 million units in 60 days. Since the launch in November Microsoft has shipped over 10 million units to retailers. At this rate 222 Kinects are being sold every hour.

As IFC points out Microsoft also release the attach rate for Kinect Software. Approximately 10 million Kinect titles have sold since the launch in late November. This means that the average consumer is only buying one title with their new device. Data from November suggests that Dance Central was the top selling Kinect game during the holidays. With only one title being sold with every Kinect (on average) how many people are still playing theirs?

During Kinect’s launch we reviewed several titles with the majority of them receiving 7.5 or below. Do you still play any of the Kinect games purchased at launch? Personally I’ve put my Kinect away until the second round of titles hits sometime during the second quarter of 2011.

Guinness also released a statement about Kinect’s inclusion in the record books:"The sales figures here speak for themselves," said Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records. "According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."

Pirates Use Exploit To Steal MS Points

A group of hackers have cracked some of the algorithms Microsoft used to generate redeemable codes for promotions. The codes would add 160 MS Points to a user’s account. The hackers were able to crack the algorithm for the 48 hour Xbox Live trails included in new games as well as codes for the Halo Reach avatar props.

The exact amount of virtual currency stolen has not been reported by Microsoft. Early media reports put the number somewhere around $1.6 million USD. Sources informed IGN.com that the actual amount of stolen points was “much lower” than the reported amount.

Since the exploit became public Microsoft has fixed the method used to gain the illegitimate points. They did not release the gamertags of those involved or what actions have already been taken. They simply have stated that they will deal with them on an individual basis.

Prey 2 Revealed As Bethseda's Newest Game

Is Bethesda working with Human Head Studios on the next entry in the Prey series? Reports from French gaming magazine joystick indicate that the game is now under active development and will be published by Bethesda as early as 2012. The game was teased in 2008 but word fell silent after Bethesda bought the publishing rights from the Radar Group in 2009.

The first Prey was considered a critical success. It followed Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic, who is abducted by Aliens alongside his girlfriend Jen. During his journey to stop Earth’s destruction and save Jen he must make use in game portals to warp between two different points in space. The game also made extensive use of physics allowing players to warp their view by clinging to the walls and ceilings.

Development of the original Prey took several years and included several false starts. The final product began developed in 2001 under the supervision of 3D Realms by Human Head Studios using the ID Tech 4 (Doom 3) engine. Hopefully Prey 2 doesn’t take nearly as long as its predecessor.

Will you try out Prey 2 once it is released? Did you have a good time with the original game? Let us know in the comments section.

PAX '11 Tribes Ascend Announced For XBLA

High Voltage Software announced the return of the Tribes franchise this morning at the Penny Arcade Expo East. The developer is working on a brand new next-generation version of the venerable action series titled Tribes Ascend for the Xbox Live Arcade and other digital distribution services.

Not much is known about the game right now aside of the brief announcement trailer shown at PAX East. The trailer opens with 30 seconds of accolades from the press about previous entries in the series. The only real glimpse of the game we get comes in the form of the power suits player will don in the game. They are brightly colored with embedded lights and a full face mask. It kind of reminds me of Issacs suit in Dead Space.

Look for Tribes Ascend on the Xbox Live Arcade sometime in 2011. You can watch the PAX East debut trailer in the embedded player below.

EA Extends NFL Exclusivity Rights

It seems like it has been forever since EA signed their exclusivity deal with the NFL in 2004. With the next NFL season in flux due to a potential lockout EA has signed an extension of the deal lasting until the end of the 2013 football season.

The new deal not only gives Electronic Arts the exclusive rights to NFL player and team licenses but the new deal will reportedly cost them much less than the original deal did six years ago.

"It's the number one sport in the country. The Super Bowl was the most-watched television program in history. It's part of America. It's part of what we want to see happen." - EA Ceo John Riccitiello Speaking with IGN XBox 360.

The current deal between the National Football League and the Players Association expires on March 3rd. Should a new deal not come to fruition early spring training camps could be put on hold. As fan blog fanhouse.com points out the expiration of the bargaining agreement will also cause trouble with the NFLs sponsors such as Gatorade, Nike and Abdias. Let's also not forgot the television companies who make prime profits for Super Bowl advertisements every January.

Even if the lockout does occur it has not slowed down production on the next installment of the Madden franchise. EA Sports is expected to release the game this coming August with or without an 2011/2012 football season.
