Rareware May Be Working On Kinect Sports 2

Rumors have been floating around the internet for some time that Rareware is working on a sequel to 2010’s Kinect Sports. The game has been rumored to be in development since reports first surfaced in early February. Considering how prominent the first game was used in advertisements for the Kinect a sequel shouldn’t be too shocking.

The first Kinect Sports was released alongside the sensor on November 4th 2010. It featured six different sports in both multiplayer and single player configurations. Let’s hope that Rare adds a few more sports to the roster and fixes some of the issues that plagued sports like Volleyball before they ship the sequel. Kinect Sports currently holds an average of rating of 7.0/10 amongst the gaming press.

The second part of the rumor is that Rare’s existence depends on the reception and sales of Kinect Sports 2. They were recently restructured and reportedly Perfect Dark 2 and Kameo 2 were both cancelled during this process. Rare has been instrumental to Microsoft’s Avatar push. It would be a shame to see them go after successful titles like Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and Kameo.
