10 Screenshots from F.E.A.R. 3

Warner Bros. Interactive and Day 1 Studios have released the first ten official screenshots showcasing this autumn's upcoming F.E.A.R. 3 .

From bloody creatures in the darkness to futuristic mechs, these screens show the range that you'll be facing in this third entry into the dark world of the F.E.A.R. series.

This iteration of the series focuses on Point Man and Paxton Fettel, Alma's sons, and their unique abilities. With a heavy focus on co-op, their skills should be interesting to dive into. In the official words, "Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave."

Crackdown 2 Gets Animated Series

Ruffian Games have partnered up with Machinima.com to bring out a series of animated shorts depicting the story that falls in between the two different Crackdown games.

The first episode was just released today, with follow-ups planned for May 28th, June 4th, June 11th and the final chapter on June 21st.

Rather than using in-game assets, the pieces are animated by artist Alex Ronald.

The story showcases a mystery by introducing how things are "today" in Pacific City and hint at the person who was behind how things got so messed up.

Check out the first of five videos in the embedded youtube video below. It's an exclusive for them, so we don't have a hard copy ourselves.

Bulletstorm Unleashed

Epic Games, People Can Fly and Electronic Arts Inc. today confirmed the development of Bulletstorm, a new original intellectual property from the teams behind the award-winning, multiple million-selling Gears of War, Unreal Tournament and Painkiller series of games. Set to release in 2011, Bulletstorm brings new furor to first-person shooter action with its signature ‘kill with skill’ gameplay, which is packed with blockbuster moments.

“Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it's pure, unadulterated entertainment,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm.”

Bulletstorm tells the story of a futuristic confederation protected by an elite band of mercenaries: Dead Echo. When Dead Echo members Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato learn they've been working for the wrong side, they're betrayed by their commander and exiled to the far reaches of the galaxy. In Bulletstorm, Grayson and Ishi find themselves surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs in an abandoned paradise. They have two objectives: get off the planet alive, and exact revenge on the man who sent them there.

Players step into the role of Grayson Hunt complete with an arsenal of over-the-top combat moves and outrageously large guns. Bulletstorm’s array of distinct ‘skillshots’ produces unprecedented levels of frantic gameplay and yell-inducing satisfaction. The skillshot system rewards players for inciting mayhem in the most creative way possible. The more insane the skillshot, the more points players collects to upgrade their character and unlock weapons, which then allows them to execute even more creative moves and exaggerated skillshots.

“We’re very excited to work with Epic Games and People Can Fly on this new project. The first time we laid eyes on Bulletstorm, we instantly knew this is going to be the next big hit from these two great studios delivering yet again an entirely new experience for shooter fans,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini.

Poised to be one of next year’s most anticipated original games, Bulletstorm will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC.

IGN published their Red Dead Redemption review today giving it a whopping 9.7 overall score. Go check it out...

Red Dead Redemption is a must-play game. Rockstar has taken the Western to new heights and created one of the deepest, most fun, and most gorgeous games around. You can expect the occasional bug or visual hiccup, but you can also expect a fantastic game that offers the Western experience we've all been waiting for. Red Dead Redemption is a complete game in every sense -- both the single player and multiplayer modes are excellent -- and still manages to offer an attention to detail you rarely see from a game of this scope.

Gears of War 3 Details Emerge

In the most recent issue of Game Informer magazine new information has been revealed about the third installment in the Gears of War series. We learned the first details about Gears 3 on the Jimmy Fallon Show which debuted the trailer back in April. So far we know that Dom has a beard, Anya fights with the boys, and Marcus has a new gun. But there's so much more.

It's been a year and a half since the fall of Jacinto and the Gears are now living aboard a converted aircraft carrier called the Raven's Nest. The government has disbanded and the survivors from the first two games call a make-shift flotilla their home. The crew rely on each other more than ever, which is highlighted in Gears 3 by the new four-player co-op. Marcus and Dom return to lead a new character named Jace Stratton and Anya Stroud.

Players can now trade weapons with each other or other soldiers in their battle against the lambent. This new enemy which first appeared in Gears of War 2 enters the game quickly when giant enemy crabs overtake the ship. These are a precursor to reanimated Locust troops called Drudges. When attacked, these enemies spawn tendril-like limbs that allow them to expand outward and upward, making cover a lot less safe. They'll also perform a last-ditch attack by blowing themselves up while running at the player.

To fight the new threat the players have access to a new "Pendulum-era lancer with a bayonet and more powerful, close-range rounds. There's also a redesigned hammerburst with a standard zoom, a sawed-off shotgun, and a massive one-shot rifle. One strange new weapon is the digger launcher which fires piranha-like creatures into the ground where they then seek and devour their targets.

The Locust still make an appearance along with new enemy classes like a grenadier and large, organic catapults. To face these larger threats, players can now suit up in a mechanized suit called a silverback. These come equipped with a rocket launcher and a heavy chain gun and can also be deployed as cover, allowing multiple team members to use the weapons.

There's also a new arcade mode that has highly visible scoring and stat tracking. Then it allows players to fiddle with variables including gravity, big-head mode, and sound effects. Arcade mode also includes an idea that appeared in Shadow Complex where players are alerted to how well their friends have done in a certain area.

As far as multiplayer, only two maps have been revealed including a ruined thrashball field and the sinking remains of Jacinto called Overpass. The multiplayer environments can alter dramatically during a match, like water flooding and receding from the ground. There's also a new multi-turret where players can affix their own weapons then hit a single trigger to fire bullets in four directions.

The article also promises a host of new executions using almost all of the weapons and more importantly, we'll finally learn the secret behind Adam Fenix and his plan to save the planet.

Kane and Lynch Score a Place in the Comics

Kane and Lynch Score a Place in the Comics

Kane and Lynch Score a Place in the Comics

IO Interactive, part of Square Enix Europe, is pleased to confirm a partnership with DC Comics to produce a comic book series based on Kane & Lynch™. Not for the fainthearted, the brutal storyline explores some of Kane & Lynch’s criminal past. The comic will be produced by DC’s WildStorm imprint with the first issue launching this August.

“We could not be happier about this partnership and expansion into comics. Who better to work with than DC Comics?” said Niels Jørgensen, general manager of IO Interactive. “We hope the comic book world is ready for the violent mayhem of Kane & Lynch.”

“Kane & Lynch are two of the most interesting videogame characters I have ever seen,” said Hank Kanalz of DC Comics. “I think this new series will show the diversity of our line of books, as our creators capture the essence of these two criminals.”

The Kane & Lynch comic book series is penned by Ian Edginton. Edginton has been in the comic scene for over two decades and worked with DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Heavy Metal, Top Cow and others. He’s best known for his work on properties such as Aliens, Predator and Terminator through to Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Torchwood. Chris Mitten, who also works on the series WASTELAND, is the artist for Kane & Lynch and New York Times best selling artist Ben Templesmith, whose notable works include 30 Days of Night and Fell, is the cover artist. Both artists are known for their raw, sinister illustration style that fully embodies the Kane & Lynch feel.

Kane & Lynch began as a videogame, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, following two hardened criminals in a dark and gritty tale of killing and revenge. It became one of the most successful original IP’s launched in 2007 and has gone on to sell well over a million units across the globe. The story continues this summer with Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC, the game will be released on the Eidos games label and will be published by Square Enix Ltd.

Privates Announced

At first I thought this was a joke and I still kind of do. However it came over the press-wire and it was just too funny not to post either way. Take a look at the press release sent out by Zombie Cow Studios and Channel 4 about their new game entitled, "Privates". Ill classify this press release under the WTF heading...

Land of Hope and Glory-holes. Where pregnant, waddling teenagers take up the full width of the pavement with their oversized triplet pushchairs, unaware that their rampant, perpetual humping has filled them to the brim with all manner of grotty infections.

Privates is a platform twin-stick shooter in which you lead a teeny-tiny gang of condom-hatted marines as they delve into peoples’ vaginas and bottoms and blast away at all manner of oozy, shouty monsters. It’s rude, funny, bitingly satirical and technically pretty accurate if you don’t count the tiny people or the germs with teeth.

“Privates is a totally crazy concept. It’s very exciting to finally be able to reveal what we’re up to,” said Dan Marshall, founder of Zombie Cow Studios. “We’re exploring some pretty unique gaming environments and themes… I can honestly say I can’t imagine you’ve ever played anything quite like it. These first five screenshots should give you a pretty good idea of what we’re up to, but there’s a hell of a lot more to come soon.”

“Channel 4 have been awesome in giving us a load of money and then keeping pretty quiet no matter how filthy and objectionable the content became. It’s gone really well.”

Privates boasts five whole levels of bug-busting action across a variety of gorgeous 3D locations, with a fully-voiced comedy script and a nutso soundtrack. You never know, you might even learn something handy about your downstairs-department.

Privates contains the word ‘merkin’ and is a PC and Xbox360 download developed by Zombie Cow Studios, creators of the critically-acclaimed indie title Time Gentlemen, Please!

The PC version will be available to download for free from Channel 4 and E4 websites this summer. The Xbox one will probably cost a little bit of money, we’ll see.

Screenshots are available now at zombie-cow.com/privates.

If you loved the first one or hated the first one, loved the demos or hated the demos, Lost Planet 2 comes out in the US tomorrow, May 11th.

To celebrate the event, Capcom has released the (most likely) final trailer for the game, called Kill Big.

We've just put the HD version in our movies section so go give it a look. It clocks in at around 336mb, so give it a minute to load.

It showcases exactly what the title is selling: killing big things. This particular trailer shows off more gameplay combat than I've seen so far, so definitely give it a look if you're curious whatsoever.

Where do you stand on the game's release? You snagging it for the co-op action or passing on the game in search of the month's later releases (Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, to name two hot ones).

Another 35 Infinity Ward Employees Resigned

IGN reported an additional 35 employees have left Infinity Ward since founders Jason West and Vince Zampella were fired late last March. Activision's CEO Bobby Kotick went on to say during a company financial call:

"Since we terminated the two executives at Infinity Ward, approximately 35 others have resigned, and it is likely a few more people will leave as well," he said. "Many of these people have been recruited by other studios because of how talented they are. We are obviously disappointed about this, and we wish we could have convinced some of these talented people to stay."

It seems around 15 of these employees have joined the newly formed Respawn Entertainment started by Jason West and Vince Zampella.

Medal Of Honor Slated for ReDeployment in Fall

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that the legendary first-person shooter Medal of Honor™ is ready for another tour of duty. The highly-anticipated modern shooter will launch on October 15, 2010 across Europe. The ship date will be announced at 12pm today via an emotionally charged trailer entitled “Leave A Message”. The trailer shows a U.S. Army Ranger platoon heading into combat aboard a helicopter. The chaos and uncertainty of the mission is belied by the reassuring voice of one of the Rangers as he reaches out to his family back home. Today’s provocative trailer is the latest in a series of trailers portraying the poignant experiences of today’s soldier. To view the trailer, visit medalofhonor.com.

“Medal of Honor is an authentic look into today’s war. Inspired by real people and real events, the game puts players in the boots of today’s warrior -- from the infantry ground pounder to the Tier 1 Operator,” said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer of Medal of Honor. “We are proud of this piece because it offers a glimpse into the game we’re creating, while also showing the mindset of these warriors.”

Medal of Honor leaves the WWII theatre for the first time in its 11-year history and enters the modern day setting of war-torn Afghanistan seen though the lens of a small band of fictional characters. As well, players will be introduced to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority.

The Medal of Honor single-player campaign is being developed by Electronic Arts in Los Angeles who has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the U.S. Special Operations Community to create the most authentic modern war experience possible. To compliment the single-player experience, EALA has enlisted the multiplayer expertise of EA Digital Illusions CE AB. Together these studios are poised to reset the franchise for a new generation this fall.

Two Worlds Vault Interview with Topware Two Worlds 2

IGN's Two Worlds Vault recently had a chance to catch Jake DiGennaro and Devon Smith from Topware US unawares, and (after several cases of extreme dehydration and caffeine overdose) managed to get a very detailed Two Worlds 2 interview out of them. Don't ask us what they had to do to the guys to make them talk. Seriously... just don't.

This wee fact filled interview covers topics such as the quests, NPC's, and roleplaying that can be found in TW2:TWVault: Speaking of the races, a lot of players were wondering (up to and including true "wtf" moments) what sort of creature Dar-Pha is... We were told several times now, she's a female orc ninja... erm, I mean, assassin. Yet her features are a far cry from those of Orcs we've seen in TW1 and in TW2 so far... what's up with that? Do we detect a hint of "elven blood"?

Devon: Dar Pha's past is just as much a mystery to herself as it is her companions. But I wouldn't go around calling her a "creature". At least not within earshot...

Jake: [Laugh] Gotta watch out for those sneaky orcs!

Head on over to Two Worlds Vault to enjoy the entire interview, and while you're there take a peek at previously released interviews on the upcoming TW sequel covering a range of topics such as combat, exploration, and multiplayer.

It's like a creepy remix of the Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" video, as it uses ink blots to reveal monsters and the scary things inside Isaac's memories.

A hint at a larger city near the end might indicate that it's not taking place on a space station this time around.

And if you pause the gibberish at the very, very end of the video it appears to just be random symbols. If anyone speaks random symbol, let me know what it means.

You can check out the video in glorious HD in our movies section.

The details are sparse on the game so far, but the terrifying tone seems to remain intact. Looking forward to this one as we move forward.
