TeamXbox Zombie Apocalypse Code Giveaway

Konami, along with developer Nihilistic Software, released Zombie Apocalypse to Xbox Live Arcade this week, and the Los Angeles-based publisher has graciously offered us a quantity of codes that we can give away to some lucky followers of the TeamXbox Twitter feed. We'll dish them out in a few different ways this afternoon, so if you're interested in trying to get a free copy of the game, come check it out.

As heavily equipped gunslingers, Zombie Apocalypse sets players on a mission to destroy as many zombies as possible in order save the last remaining human survivors.

Using an array of up to 11 lethal weapons including assault rifles, flame throwers and a teddy bear filled with C4 explosives, up to four players can play locally or via the Internet to stop the zombie attacks and rescue survivors as they compete for the highest scores. Players can use a chainsaw to melee zombies and protect themselves against becoming one of the undead. As an added line of defense, players can also use environmental hazards to crush, burn, slice, or cause other types of destruction on the masses of zombies.

The action-packed, arcade-style shooter will test gamers' dual analog stick shooting skills and ability to survive 55 days of battles across seven environments, all the while attempting to not become a brainless zombie. Upon completing the mission, players can re-live the apocalypse with seven challenging unlockable game modes.

Red Faction Guerrilla Smasher Pack DLC Video

THQ and Volition are proud to announce our third DLC package for Red Faction Guerrilla, the “Smasher Pack”, coming soon for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Available on October 1st, the Smasher Pack contains 8 new maps for our couch multiplayer mode Wrecking Crew, along with a brand new “Behemoth” mode which will allow players to switch out the usual weapons for something a little more intimidating – Walkers. Each of the three main Walkers found in the single-player campaign for Red Faction Guerrilla will now be available for use in “Behemoth” mode, which include:

Heavy Mining Walker – Slow but powerful, this Walker can take down a building in seconds with a few arm swings.

Light Mining Walker – With the addition of jump jets, this fast-paced Walker is agile and suited for taking down smaller buildings.

Combat Walker – Replace speed and power with an explosive rocket arsenal, and you’ve got a Walker that can attack anything near or far.

The Smasher Pack is priced at 400 MS Points on Xbox LIVE or $4.99 via the PlayStation Network.

Internally at Volition, we’ve been play-testing Behemoth mode on and off for a while, but always found that some healthy competition allows for a more invigorating experience. Our healthy competition overflowed a little bit this time around, resulting in a few wagers surrounding who would come out on top within the new mode. We ended up digging out a few video cameras and created an internal Developer Diary based around the new DLC, along with an internal look at Volition and their employees.

Spelunky Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

This week the developers of Spelunky, a 2D side-scrolling platformer that takes place deep beneath the surface, have updated the game's website, stating that Spelunky is on its way to Xbox Live Arcade!

Below is what the Derek Yu, the founder of the Mossmouth video game company had to say...

Spelunky is making its way to Xbox Live Arcade in 2010! Yep, and it's going to be much more than a straight port of the PC game - I'm planning on stuffing it with new graphics, audio, and other features for XBLA users. With all the other great independent games on XBLA or coming to it, I'm hopeful that Spelunky will feel right at home there. I think it's a cool platform and I'm excited about what I'll be able to do to make the game special.

Regarding the inevitable question of whether the XBLA flavor of Spelunky will also be available on PC or any other systems: I don't have any plans for it right now. The original Spelunky doesn't need replacing, in my opinion, and I'll continue to support it as a free title. Not only that, but I'm planning on opening up the source code before the end of the year so that people can modify the game to their heart's content. For now, head over to the Spelunky forums to discuss the game and share levels!
