Fishcraft Announced For Xbox Indie Games

FishCraft - Press Release

Move over angry fowl there’s a bigger fish in town! FishCraft, an action packed physics game, is coming to Xbox Live Indie Games in early Q1 2011. The cats have consumed the friends and family of the fish. These are some pissed fish. They will stop at nothing to destroy the fortresses the cats have constructed for themselves in 63 unique puzzling battles in this epic war!

Nampa, ID – NotPlanA subsidiary FrozenSoft is pleased to announce FishCraft, a new action packed physics game in which the player helps the pissed fish get revenge against the cats that have eaten their friends and family. The cats have constructed fortresses and puzzles to protect themselves but the fish pack a heavy arsenal. Prepare for war.

FishCraft features a 7 battle trial mode that allows players to get a taste of the game and the different types of fish that can be used to battle against the cats. Once the game is purchased all 63 unique puzzling battles are unlocked along with 5 unique fish, each with their own special attack abilities. Many puzzles have been designed so that launching an attack of multiple fish at once may be required.

Each battle must be completed before subsequent battles are unlocked. A 3 star battle point system has been implemented to award players for optimal destruction and technique. The player is awarded points for destroying objects, defeating cats, and for having a minimal amount of fish casualties.

FishCraft is running on XNA 4.0 and is powered by Torque X 2D CEV. The team consists of three core individuals, Chris Hubler – Art & Design, Josh Neider – Programming & Marketing and Barry Hubler – Level Design.

Ridge Racer Unbound Announced

Namco has announced the latest entry in the Ridge Racer series with Ridge Racer Unbound. This is the first Ridge Racer game available on the Xbox 360 since Ridge Racer V which was a launch title all the way back in 2005. The game is being published by Namco Bandai and is in development at Bugbear Entertainment.

The trailer features the familiar "Ridge Racer Girl" driving her silver sports car through a gritty cityscape. She exits the car and takes the wheel of a sleeker red and black automobile. She proceeds to drive through an alleyway on to a public street toppling over passing cars.

Could this mean that Unbound is heading in to a new direction. Perhaps we will see fully populated cities with destructible opponents and environments. I think it would be a neat change of pass for the series if they took a que from Burnout Paradise and included an open ended design with multiple paths. Closed off courses are so 2006!

What do you think of the reveal trailer for Ridge Racer Unbound? Let us know in the comments.

'I Am Alive' Set For XBLA Release

Could Ubisoft's long in development action title I Am Alive finally see release in 2011? According to French gaming website JeuxVideo the game will take the form of a downloadable title for the Xbox Live Arcade and similar platforms. According to the same video the game could be in the hands of Jade Raymond - producer of Assassins Creed I & II as well as the director of Ubisoft's new Toronto studio.

I Am Alive utilized a modified version of the Unreal 2.0 engine and casts the player as "Adam" - a civilian trying to survive in a post-earthquake ravaged Chicago. In previous builds of the game players were able to play in either a first or third person view. Guiding Adam through the city and performing actions such as interrogating enemies, finding food and other activities needed to survive.

It is unknown whether not these elements still remain intact as development has shifted from the game's original developer DarkWorks to an internal Ubisoft studio. It is possible that we will see more information as GDC and E3 inch closer and closer.

Below you can watch the original 2008 reveal trailer for the project.

Frank West Cut From MvC3 & More

The hype train surrounding Capcom's upcoming superhero infused brawler Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is in full swing. A recent interview gives new insight in to what Capcom left on the cutting room floor and a whole new batch of new media has been released. With the game only three weeks away from release I don't think that this will be the last news post you will see before it is in your hands.

One of the most wanted characters that was scheduled for this go around was photojournalist Frank West. Unfortunately despite his appearance in Tatsunoko vs Capcom the team had some issues with his moveset despite being far along in development.

“But we’ve taken him [Frank West] out, due to the fact that we’ve foreseen some extra work involved, just from the nature of his moves. We felt we could direct our resources to better use, so we’ve taken Frank out.” - Ryota Niitsuma Producer of Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

The last tidbit that Capcom released to help us get excited for MVC3 is a batch of new media showing off the recently revealed inclusions Akuma and Taskmater.

Could this game get any more sweeter? Only time will tell as we head towards the February 15th release date. Are you looking forward to fighting as your favorite Capcom or Marvel character? Let us know in the comments.
