Microsoft has launched a lawsuit against handset manufacturer/wireless company Motorola over shared patented technology as used in the Xbox 360. Microsoft claims that Motorolas patents for video decoding and 802.11G/N wireless connectivity have entered Microsofts shared pool of technologies licensed from other companies.
In the end the suit comes down to the amount of money Microsoft owes Motorola for the use of the wireless technologies in the Xbox 360. The Xbox isnt the only product affected some of Motorolas patents affect the recently launched Windows Phone 7.
