Is Bethesda working with Human Head Studios on the next entry in the Prey series? Reports from French gaming magazine joystick indicate that the game is now under active development and will be published by Bethesda as early as 2012. The game was teased in 2008 but word fell silent after Bethesda bought the publishing rights from the Radar Group in 2009.
The first Prey was considered a critical success. It followed Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic, who is abducted by Aliens alongside his girlfriend Jen. During his journey to stop Earths destruction and save Jen he must make use in game portals to warp between two different points in space. The game also made extensive use of physics allowing players to warp their view by clinging to the walls and ceilings.
Development of the original Prey took several years and included several false starts. The final product began developed in 2001 under the supervision of 3D Realms by Human Head Studios using the ID Tech 4 (Doom 3) engine. Hopefully Prey 2 doesnt take nearly as long as its predecessor.
Will you try out Prey 2 once it is released? Did you have a good time with the original game? Let us know in the comments section.
