Chicago Chimera 23, San Francisco Optx 21
Championship Gaming Series North American Regular Season continued last night at the EA Los Angeles campus where the world champion Chicago Chimera took on the undefeated San Francisco Optx. After Chimera struggled in Women's Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4) and Forza Motorsport 2, Chicago's Yfran "Eafra" Garcia turned the tables for his team during the FIFA 08 contest, winning 4-2 in an overtime shootout. Chicago's Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S) squad put their team on the verge of victory with a dominating 14-4 win. Despite a 5-2 victory by San Francisco's Male DOA4 player Chris "NinjaCW" Harris over Chicagos Jeremy BlackMamba Florence, Chimera held on for a 23-21 overall score.
Carolina Core 26, Los Angeles Complexity 13
In the second match of the night, the 2007 World Final runner-up Carolina Core demonstrated to Los Angeles Complexity and the rest of the league their desire to be this year's number one team. After a 1-0 win by Andrew "Anomaly" Brock in FIFA and a commanding 5-0 score by Cores Women DOA4 player Kat "Mystik" Gunn, Carolina was off to a 6-0 start. LAs Carl "Perfect Legend" White added 5 points to his team's overall score with a 5-3 win in Men's DOA4 but it would not be enough for Los Angeles. June 4th became a night of CS:S dominance as Core's squad crushed the famed Complexity CS:S squad 13-5, which helped give Carolina a 26-13 win over Los Angeles.
