Final Fantasy XIII2 Announced & New Trailers Released

Square Enix held its “first premiere development conference” last night in Japan. They had big news in store for every major platform including the Xbox 360. Square revealed that development is underway on a new console title revolving around the FFXIII franchise.

Tentatively titled “FFXIII-2” the game is a direct sequel to last year’s Final Fantasy XIII. Unlike that game fans will not have to wait five years to get their hands on it. Square Enix expects to ship the title in Japan by the end of 2011.

The long in development Final Fantasy Versus 13 got a brand new trailer as well. This game was originally revealed as a Playstation 3 exclusive before becoming platform ambiguous. It is unknown if it will be a multiplatform release here in the west but if Square’s last few major releases are any indication then we will see it on the Xbox 360 eventually.

If all of these similarly titled Final Fantasy games have you confused don’t worry, even the most hardcore fans have trouble keeping track. For now check out the two trailers from the event below.
