Capcom Announced Devil May Cry Reboot

Capcom released the reveal trailer for the fifth entry in the Devil May Cry series this week at the Tokyo Game Show. The game is purportedly a reboot of the popular franchise featuring a redesigned Dante. Gone is the cartoony character design of previous entries and replaced with a grittier more realistic look. This new design has caused a bit of a rift in the fan community - discussing whether the new design is for the best.

The trailer opens with a quote from David Hume – “Heaven and hell suppose two different species of man, the good and the bad” - Traditionally the Devil May Cry series mythology combines elements of heaven and hell. The trailer continues to focus on a black haired protagonist being held in what is speculated to be an asylum of some kind. If the action sequences are any indication then the series staples of combos and stylized combats should continue in DMC.

A release date for DMC has not yet been announced by Capcom or Ninja Theory. It is possible that the game could be released in late 2011 or 2012 depending on how long development takes. Ninja Theory released their first title – PS3 Exclusive Heavenly Sword – before becoming a multiplatform developer in 2009.
