TNT Racers Heading To The Arcade In Q1 2011

Developer Keen Games has announced that the Xbox live arcade racing title TNT Racers is now scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2011.The game was announced early last year and was originally scheduled for release in the summer of 2010 but it missed that mark. Along with the release date announcement Keen Games has also revealed new details about the game and a brand new trailer.

The final game will feature 18 tracks and a local multiplayer mode for up to four players. The developers hope that players will form rivalries as they use the multiple power ups that populate the race track. A feature that is unique to TNT racers is the ability for fallen racers to return to the course as a “Shadow Racer” who are able to slowdown the remaining racers.

TNT racers looks to be a family friendly accessible racer. The game should be priced at 800 microsoft points ($10 USD). We will have more information on this title as it becomes available. For now check out the embedded trailer below to get a taste of the action.

Hard Screens of Hard Corps Uprising

I mentioned Hard Corps: Uprising briefly the other day in regards to Microsoft's upcoming Spring promotion called the Microsoft House Party.

Alongside Torchlight , Beyond Good & Evil , Bejeweled Blitz and Full House Poker , Hard Corps: Uprising will make itself onto the virtual shelves of XBLA in just a few short months.

Set in time as a prequel to Contra: Hard Corps , the game has been described as the first Contra game to drop that particular moniker from its title. The game is developed by Arc System Works who are best known for their work on the BlazBlue , Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball Z series .

The game features cooperative play over Xbox Live and looks to contain some of the action insanity that the Contra series has always brought to the table.

To give you a better idea of what Hard Corps looks like, check out these eight new screenshots that the developers have just released:

Final Fantasy XIII2 Announced & New Trailers Released

Square Enix held its “first premiere development conference” last night in Japan. They had big news in store for every major platform including the Xbox 360. Square revealed that development is underway on a new console title revolving around the FFXIII franchise.

Tentatively titled “FFXIII-2” the game is a direct sequel to last year’s Final Fantasy XIII. Unlike that game fans will not have to wait five years to get their hands on it. Square Enix expects to ship the title in Japan by the end of 2011.

The long in development Final Fantasy Versus 13 got a brand new trailer as well. This game was originally revealed as a Playstation 3 exclusive before becoming platform ambiguous. It is unknown if it will be a multiplatform release here in the west but if Square’s last few major releases are any indication then we will see it on the Xbox 360 eventually.

If all of these similarly titled Final Fantasy games have you confused don’t worry, even the most hardcore fans have trouble keeping track. For now check out the two trailers from the event below.

Shift 2 Launch Trailer

Electronic Arts released a brand new launch trailer for Shift 2: Unleashed today. The trailer shows off some night time course driving through the improved cockpit view. The realistic light reflections and blurs on the road are excellent. Combined with the glowing lights from the car's hud and it is almost like your right there in the driver's seat.

This racing sequel is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios for a March 2011 release. The game dropped the Need For Speed Branding but will still use the autolog technology introduced in last fall's Need for Speed. This means that once the game launches you will be able to track your friends progress in real time and compete for high scores.

You can watch the newly released launch trailer below. Look for more coverage of Shift 2 closer to release.

New Mortal Kombat 9 Developer Diary

Mortak Kombat 9 Developer NetherRealm Studios released a brand new developer diary for their upcoming game over the weekend. The brief 2 minute doc asks several members of the development team where they would take the demonic Melina out on a date. By far the best response was 'an orthodontists'.

Interspersed between the candid developer responses is gameplay footage of the purple clad maiden in action. We get to see some of her classic dodges and particle attacks reminiscent of those in Mortak Kombat 2. Make sure to watch the video to the very end for an up-close and personal look at the new Melina.

Mortal Kombat 9 will ship sometime in 2011 for all major platforms including the Xbox 360. You can watch the developer diary in the embedded player below.
